Drift 06:25
tell me have they taken all of my imagination tell me have they taken all of my get up and go (oh no) tell me have they broken my unbreakable spirit at last and do they know everything about me now all that there is to know (uh oh) as I slip into the stream I'm going under and I drift from screen to screen in a sad dream tell me am I vacant just somebody else's plaything tell me am I wasting what little left of me remains (oh what a shame) please tell me that I'm going where it is that I wanted to go that I'm not just spinning round in circles (on my own) waiting for the curtain to close as I slip into the stream I'm going under and I drift from screen to screen in a sad dream is there still a world outside full of empty bottles and plastic bags is there still a world outside full of sea monkeys and packs of dogs is there still a world outside with a wilderness where I can hide is there somewhere I can lose myself to find what I've always needed to find as I slip behind the scens I'm fading out and I drift from screen to screen in a sad dream

about

*

Recorded at Humm studios in Bristol and at Robi's house in Cornwall, Talk To Strangers EP channels the mellow warmth of 60s and 70s influences into a carefully crafted 2020s indie pop package.

Flavours from Robi’s time as a session musician in Taiwan crop up in the tropical tones of Talk To Strangers, while Blue Blue Sky is unapologetically upbeat and breezy. Drift settles back into a warm, keyboard driven groove with nostalgic lyrics lamenting the times before bursting into a kaleidoscopic outro of arpeggiators and swirling drums.

By blending nostalgia with his fresh, imaginative production and songwriting, Robi outlines his unique musical vision while underscoring his position as a hidden gem within the rich undergrowth of the UK’s independent music scene.
